Rig Crossing- In railway construction when the railway intersects with highways, there need to be a crossing provided for the purpose of smooth carriage of both the transport ways. The Rig crossing is special type of crossing as it involves Rigs of heavy loads to be traveled over the rail alignment.
The dimensions of Rig
- Height 17 m
- Length 60 m
- Width 22 m.
So required rig crossing width will be 30 m.
The total weight is equal to 7284 kN on 16 wheels.
The peak pressure is 667 kPa.
The second one is referred to the mast on bogey (see figure 2.3)
The total weight is equal to 1980 kN on 4 + 10 wheels.
The peak pressure is 1093 kPa.
The following pictures will give you the idea of solution and technology
Lifting of plates is on going |
Placing of Plates over Rail You can see there exists a Concrete Pedestal on which plates are going to rest. |
Lifting of Plates is in Progress |
3 Plates have been placed |
All plates and side barriers have been placed as safety measure |
